Matakana Tours
Launched in 2008, Matakana Tours are a small Matakana coast based family business run by Liz & Geoff Bays. Our business is driven by our passion for connecting visitors with the passionate locals who live and work in this amazing region.
Our idea for Food & Wine Tours grew from Geoff’s love for the boutique wines being produced in the region. The idea was to introduce the wines and the people who craft them to visitors to the region. This proved very popular, and so we expanded to include the Taste Tour, allowing the bounty of fresh produce and artisan suppliers to also be experienced and enjoyed.
Many of the local growers and artisans are our friends, and guests often comment about feeling they’ve made a whole bunch of new friends themselves after a day out on tour - it’s these authentic, personal connections that make our experiences so special.
People also comment on how little time is spent in the car - that’s because we have such a bounty of attractions (over 50 authentic Kiwi businesses and suppliers on our books), there’s less time driving and more time to explore and have fun… just how we like it!

We take care of your every need (itinerary creation, reservations, tariffs and time frames), so you can totally relax and absorb the region’s stunning experiences to the fullest. We’re also clear and transparent on all costings, so you know what is included and what is not - there’s no surprises on the day.
We live local, love local and want to share our local culture and secrets of this beautiful part of New Zealand; which in turn helps to support the local community and economy that we are part of.
